The Fridgecast: Episode 21 - Asking the Question in Plain Sight

May 30, 2013

It's been an awfully long time, but we're finally back!

After a series of technical problems and general laziness, we have returned to ask the question: "Doctor Who?"

Dwight Tejano, Rob "Tek" Piontek, Sean Sorensen, and our friend and guest, Erin Guerrera discuss the recently-completed 7th season of Doctor Who.  Did the Ponds get a good departure?  What do we think of the sassy Clara Oswald?  And, with the 50th anniversary only months away, what do we expect/want to see?

It's a celebration in The Name of the Doctor, and you've got this level of awesome on the Fridgecast!

Finally FFS!  It's a Fringe finale-filled filing of the fair Fridgecast -  and a fitting first for February Fridgecasts!

Happy New Year!

Yes, it's February, but we're finally back in 2013 with this episode 20 of our podcast - and we're devoting it to the end of sci-fi network TV as we know it.  Fringe reached a five-year run, beating out all kinds of odds, ultimately ending with a series finale airing last month.  We at OTF have a soft spot for the show (perhaps one of us more than the others), so it only seemed natural that we devote an entire episode to a look back at all of the universe-crossing awesomeness.  Our very own Observers, Rob "Tek" Piontek and Amy Imhoff (or their reasonable facsimiles) lead the discussion, along with friend of OTF and Fringe fanatic, Eric Mayrhofer.

Plug it in your earholes:  The Fridgecast, Episode 20: Mr. Papaya + Red Vines = Crazy Delicious.

The Fridgecast: Episode 19 - 2012 Year in Review

The Fridgecast: Episode 19 - 2012 Year in Review

December 27, 2012

Season's Greetings, Fridge Divers!  2012 has been one hell of a year, hasn't it? We geeky types have got a lot to be thankful for these days, as we slowly conquer the earth.  We've had a complete DC universe reboot, billion dollar Marvel movie franchises, polarizing conclusions to video game trilogies, and much, much more.  But what made the cut as some of the most significant entries of 2012?  Amy Imhoff, Sean Sorensen, Dwight Tejano, and Rob "Tek" Piontek talk about what made the biggest impact on us, individually, in each of six categories: TV, Movie, Graphic Novel, Video Game, Book, and Event.  What takes the top spot in each of our lists?  Hit up episode 19 and find out!

On a more personal note, 2012 has been extremely significant for us here at OTF - we have seen some significant growth as a website and as a media outlet, and that's all thanks to you.  We hope that you'll stick with us in 2013 as we continue to post high quality articles and podcasts (or, barring that, moderate quality articles and podcasts) for your internetz pleasure throughout 2013.  We love this stuff just as much as you do, and we're overjoyed that you allow us to bring this stuff to you.

Until 2013, keep calm and Fridgecast on!

The Fridgecast: Episode 18 - A New York Comic-Con State of Mind

October 22, 2012

It's the final convention of the year for us at OTF, and it was a memorable one!  New York Comic Con 2012 concluded just over a week ago, and our three inimitable Fridge Stuffers - Amy Imhoff, Rob "Tek" Piontek, and Dwight Tejano - were on hand to celebrate the geek culture with 100,000+ kindred spirits.

To say that enjoyment was had by all would be an understatement -- this was an event to rival the excitement of San Diego.  Amy, Tek, and Dwight recount their weekends -- what they saw, what they obtained, and what they covered for your perusal on the Fridge.  What singular made their respective weekends?  What would they change for next year?  Why, after so many conventions, is Tek still jonesing for more?

Fridgecast Special - Rob Paulsen at NYCC

Fridgecast Special - Rob Paulsen at NYCC

October 12, 2012

There's a man you all know, even if you don't quite know that you know him.

With a voice acting career spanning decades, you grew up with him -- voicing characters like TMNT's Raphael, the dim-witted lab mouse (poit!) Pinky of Pinky and the Brain (narf!), and everyone's favorite geography expert, Yakko Warner, among hundreds of others.

That man is, of course, Rob Paulsen.

After a panel promoting his new venture Bravoman from ShiftyLook (complete with a rousing rendition of "Yakko's World"), Mr. Paulsen was kind enough to speak with our very own Rob "Tek" Piontek about his podcast, his work on the new TMNT (this time as Donatello), and more.

We fully intended for this recording to be a part of our post-NYCC podcast, but this interview with Paulsen was just too entertaining to wait.

Thanks again, Rob!  We hope to catch you again in the future!

The Fridgecast: Episode 17 - Con Air

October 11, 2012

It's all convention talk on this episode of the Fridgecast!  Rob 'Tek' Piontek and Dwight Tejano look back on September's Baltimore Comic-Con and look forward to New York Comic-Con!

Baltimore Comic-Con was a great convention, but is it great because of or in spite of its relatively small size?  Dwight and Tek review the pros and cons of Charm City's comic book convention.  And with New York Comic-Con beginning today, there's plenty to look forward to -- but what does our OTF editors consider the most exciting coming out of the Javits Center?

All this and more on this very special Fridgecast!
